Tonight represents a big night for two of Liverpool’s best players.
Mo Salah, this season’s best buy and complete revelation under Klopp, and Sadio Mane, our Senegalese powerhouse who has hardly put a foot wrong since joining the club, will go head to head along with Aubameyang for the honour of CAF Player of the Year.
It’ll be a tight run thing for sure but it’s clear that our style and impressive all round performances as a team are being noticed further afield.
This does mean however that it must make them a doubt to play in tomorrow night’s Merseyside derby in the FA Cup.
The award ceremony will be held in Ghana and while Klopp ensures travel arrangements have been made to get them back in time, I’m fairly certain they’ll both start from the bench at best.
However we may well see the much awaited debut of Virgil Van Dijk. Not signed in time to play against Burnley, fans are itching to finally see VVD out on the pitch in a Liverpool shirt.
Friday night would seem the opportune time to throw him into the action and get a taste of a Merseyside derby right from the very beginning.
In at the deep end and all that.
With no other team news available right now, it would be down to pure assumption that Lallana will retain his spot with Firmino coming back in after starting from the bench last time out.
