Thomas Lemar, currently at Monaco, has reportedly chosen a move to Liverpool ahead of Arsenal.
In need of a versatile midfielder of genuine quality, we should be over the moon that it seems like he’s elected for a move to Anfield.
Lemar was apparently subject to a deadline day move to Arsenal in the last window which fell through – one could speculate on a number of reasons.
But with Monaco’s season in tatters, a move seems ripe for the talented midfielder.
Monaco went out of the Champions League at the group stage without even winning a game (drawing 2 and losing 4) meaning they won’t even get Europa League football. Couple that with the fact they’re already 9 points behind PSG then you can see why Monaco might not be Lemar’s future.
The player himself will have also seen many of his successful squad of last season depart, while he’s stayed on competing in a league that will now surely be dominated by PSG for years to come.
I think a move is only a matter of time and the fact that Liverpool is his preferred choice is credit to the club, it’s squad and reputation.

There’s also something nice about Klopp doing his business early, before the window has even opened!
The deal isn’t confirmed just yet, this is still conjecture and rumour but reliable sources are reporting that this one will get done early.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed, this would be a top signing for Klopp.
