After more than just hearsay about Philippe Coutinho transferring to Barca in January, Klopp is said to be eyeing a potential playmaker replacement.
Although the Reds are trying hard to hold on to their star midfielder, they are already producing plans and lining up Paris Saint-German forward Julian Draxler in case the worst happens. The Germany International Julian Draxler is said to be Jurgen Klopp’s preferred choice and the Reds have been closely monitoring his progress.
Julian Draxler to Replace Philippe Coutinho for Liverpool
Draxler was one of the few German players that made a good impression at Euro 2016. He captained Germany and brought them victory in the FIFA Confederations Cup and subsequently won the player-of-the-tournament award.
He has appeared 11 times this season but he struggled in achieving a starting role at Paris-Saint German. After the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the summer and the presence of Edinson Cavani, he faces a tough time getting regular starts in a three-man attack and has ended up playing the back-up in recent time.
He was even left on the bench during a last week’s game, a 0-0 draw with Marseille.
Liverpool’s possible plan of getting Draxler is an ideal escape route for the German forward. Playing for Liverpool will be an excellent platform for Draxler. His blazing pace and undeviating gameplay manner will be a cutting edge for the Reds.
